Some 30 ITFNZ members family
and friends attended the 2007 Counties Manukau Sporting Awards on Thursday
29 Nov.
With guest All Black Ali Williams, and finalists like Valerie Vili, Ruben Wiki,
Dillon Boucher, this was a high profile event.
And who took Sportsman of the Year...

Sue Breen from Eastern (ITF) Pakuranga
received a well deserved recognition winning the Administrator of
the year.
(without Sue's efforts year after year, ITFNZ wouldn't figure at these awards |
ITFNZ folk went up on the stage for 12 finalist spots last night,
compared with 1/2 that number for much larger
and higher profile sports.
That only happens due to *weeks* of long nights by Sue creating the comprehensive
nomination presentations that
persuade the selection panel to choose our people! )

The 2005 awards ceremony were held at the TelstraClear Pacific Events
Centre, Manukau City.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MR STEVE MORRIS:

A Patterns Silver Medal at the ITF World Champs as well as outstanding
results at the Oceanas (in sparring, special techniques & patterns)
all contributed to Mr Steve Morris becoming the CM Sports Sportsman of
the year for 2005. Steve was nominated alongside NZ Cricketer Kyle Mills
and other great athletes. Past recipients include the legendary Possum
Bourne and other famous NZ Sportsmen. Congratulations Steve.
 
Mr Morris with his Instructor Mr Steve Pellow, Master McPhail and proud
Mum and Dad.

Master Paul McPhail was awarded the Service to Sports Award 2nd year running.

on Friday 29th October. Regional Director Sue Breen was very happy with
11 ITFNZ nominations gaining five finalist selections, and taking three
of the awards.

The Award ceremonies are run by Counties Manukau Sport, backed by the
Manukau City Council.
ITFNZ Counties Manukau students and clubs were nominated in 11 categories
for the awards. From a large field of nominations across all sporting
codes, ITFNZ entries were chosen as finalists in four categories:
Administrator of the year, Club Award, Masters Award, Top Team of the
year.
The winners were then announced at the awards dinner.
For his services as Chief Examiner, Web page administrator, Author of
training materials and Director of Technique, Mr Paul McPhail was chosen
as the Administrator of the year.
For their achievements at Regional and National tournaments, the contribution
of club members to the National Body, and their involvement in the local
community, Papakura Club was chosen for the Counties Manukau Club
Award.
