There are a number of demonstration teams around the country, that are available to show what Taekwon-Do is all about. Contact the Regional Director in your area for more information.

Why have a demonstration?

Demonstrations are exciting and entertaining, displaying the depth and breadth of our martial art. They add an extra dimension to any gathering, creating atmosphere and giving your customers or attendants something to talk about. People tell their friends and family, and word of your event or activity is spread.

What do we do in demonstrations?

Demonstrations include various feats of skill and technique against imaginary and real opponents, kick pads and breakable materials. We demonstrate many flying kicks, for which Taekwon-Do is renowned; break timber to show power and dexterity; entertain with skits of self defence; and perform feats of focus and flexibility.

Most demonstrations take about twenty-five minutes. You may request longer or shorter demonstrations, and items are often tailored for particular events and audiences.

How much room is needed?

The optimum size for a demonstration is about 12m wide by 10m deep, but we have performed demonstrations in areas as small as 10m by 5m, and as large as the Ericsson Stadium. With reasonable notice, demonstrations are tailored to suit.

The best surface for a demonstration is a wooden floor or grass area. Ultimately however, we perform where the audience is, which is often on concrete or tar seal. Demonstrations are modified to suit the surface.

Is there any charge for demonstrations?

No. Members of the team are unpaid. The main cost of demonstrations is breaking materials, but other costs include training hall hire and equipment. Most demonstrations cost about $50. Donations to help cover these costs are welcome.
