paralysed due to road accident when working

after the accident I would never walk again but the
Indomitable spirit I
learned in tae kwon do proved them wrong.
Today I have recovered a little
more and at least practice my hyungs
daily till 2nd gup even though
physically my flexibility has been
spoiled due to the internal damage done
near the back bone.
But I will always be in touch with tae kwon do and go

Comments: Hi! I surfed onto your nice Taekwondo Web Site
tonight and enjoyed reading all the information about TKD. I live in America and
after studying Kang-Duk-Won and WTF and UTF and later. ITF, I have found it a
very interesting storyregarding the actual Founder of Taekwondo. Of course as
Americans many of us wouldn't know any better so to speak when a person from
Korea or Japan or China comes here and begins to tell a story of their country's
history and 'Who" actually created this or that.
My point beingthat after a
hard study of other TKD schools.when I was told of a General Choi Hong HiI
really didn't believe a word of it, to be honest. It was only through dedicated
study and learning over a period of years that I realized that the General
really did work incredibly hard to devise a new System of Fighting.and he called
it Taekwondo.! I think the most confusing part of it all is how it all began
many centuries ago in Korea. Along about the years 300 A.D. or so.the original
fighting Warriors of Korea. But they had different names for their martial arts
way back then. Korean foot fighting was more prominant is my understanding.
(Tek-Yon) I think it was called. Oh.and Something about the Generals highest
ranking instructors that I have found to be one very impressive aspect of their
personalitiesThey DON'T have a "Chip" on their shoulders. And that'sKewl!
But
trust me on this onethey sure can kick and punch.! No doubt.
(A mule could
take notes from them) I made it to the rank of Red Belt and later got as far as
the 1st Gup level in ITF. And that took me four years to accomplish. I have an
artificial foot so I sort of have had to work a bit harder. In closing, if a
person gives General Choi a fighting chance.and trys their best to be a
"Teachable" student of histhey will be absolutely amazed at all the General has
to teach and offer them. I Promise. Best wishes from America and take good
care.

New Zealand's 'ITF" Guestbook: Hello. How are all of you? I saw your web site
tonight and thought it quite nicely done. Regarding General Choi Hong Hi. In my
own life's experiences, and especiallly here in America, He hasn't been given as
much credit for all his teachings as deserved. The majority of TKD Schools here
seem to portray TKD in such a manner as to offer a more "Generic" version of his
teachings and in most cases, giving little or no mention to his name. The
purpose of expressing this is to say to everyone interested in studying TKD, I
can honestly say from my own experiences that YES .General Choi IS the Real
Founder of TaeKwonDo.! I have studied the General's life quite exhaustingly for
a number of years now.but this was "after" being a student of various other
schools proclaiming themselves as legitamate TKD schools. I worked hard in them
all however. I have never been so impressed by one man's hard dedication and
work as I have that of the General's. I am a handicapped student with an
aritficial foot. But somehow through tremendous patience on behalf of my ITF
Instructors I made it to the rank of 2nd Gup. (Red belt) I've prepared for my
1st Gup Rank but as yet have not taken the test for this rank. If anyone out
there in "Internet Land" wishes to envolve themselves in what I would present as
REAL TaeKwonDo.and Real Martial Arts, then go for it and learn ITF!
I have
most all of the General's books and Videos now and can only say that in my most
sincerest words.I truely admire this man for his many courages through out his
own life and for sharing a most remarkable and impressive system of

privillage of seeing Miss Jeanette Joe, Mr Jon Sawden and Mr Brandon Dixon
(ITFNZ) at our Matthew Flinders class recently. They were awsome. We have a
large, strong club with plenty of atmosphere. Mrs R says it was like that in NZ
and in PNG when they were there. I can imagine that. We have students who are 5
years old in our class. The oldest are grandparents. Mr R says that their oldest
student (U3A class) is 78 years old. I'd love to be doing TKD at that age.

If you test is designed for all then how come it has different prenounceations

In pattern Joong-Gun the Taekwon-Do encyclopedia describes move 30 as:
Bring
the left foot to the right foot forming a close stance while executing an angle
punch.
I was taught by my Instructor to do this move in normal motion because
it dosn't say any
specific motion. In another do-jang I was taught to do this
move in slow motion. However on the
Taekwon-Do legace cd-rom the performer of
this pattern just steps into the position without
really any power in the
punch. If anybody thinks they know how this move should be performed
could

that there were only us two competitors from I T F there with

it was certainly helpful on the day.
My opponent did not keep her guard up and I got in a nice
jumping kick to her
head, which would have looked nice if I had actually landed properly!
It was
a technical loss, but a moral victory. Because my guard was always up
she
kept kicking my elbow and walked off with a swollen ankle and
lots of
bruises. She was a great competitor though.

New Zealand as an exchange student our Master in The Czech Republic

Mr. Hwang Ho Yong (7. dan )- told me I can join a club in New Zealand.
I had a chance to visit a club in Christchurch - Riccarton TKD.
I am
really pleased I had an opportunity to join other club in
different country
and experienced their way of learning TKD.
From the first time everyone was
very friendly and now the imagination
of leaving them in a couple of months
makes me really sad.
I had also opportunity to go to a competition here,
which was organised
by WTF (18.-19.4. 98) and all kind of martial arts could
attend.
Unfortunately there were just two of us from ITF. And again great
experience. My coach was our Riccarton instructor Stewart Mayes (2. dan)
and I had big support from my club. It was really amazing for me because
I am in this club still for such a short time but everyone made time
to
come and cheer me on.
My opponent was a girl from WTF Dunedin (2. dan).
The rules for this
competition were nearly the same as the one in ITF but we
weren't
allowed punching head and it was full-contact competition. Also we
had
3 two minutes rounds. First round went quite OK and we were well
matched
( that is what everyone from the club said ). I gave her beautiful
nerjo cagi (downward kick) on her head. Then finished first 2
minutes.
Started second round and you know the style WTF. No guarding. So
when we were in close together I saw her face, unguarded, I just
instinctivly punched her head. Unfortunately, as I said the rules
didn't
allow punching the head. And she went down. I was shocked and
I think (for
I'd seen my opponents face) I wasn't the only one.
I thought I will be
disqualified straight away but after few minutes
she recovered and decided
to continue. (I knew she would be very angry
because the day before I told
her I might just accidently hit her
head and she told me she would
be.)
So the fight continued and I was more weary but I knew I couldn't
win
because of the punch. And I really lost. But everyone told
afterwards
that it was a good fight and that I surprised them. Even my
opponent
admitted I would have chance to win if there wasn't for the punch.
And now everyone is teasing me and reminding me all the time.
So this
is my experience overseas I hope you've enjoyed it as everyone
in my club
did as they told me so. I personally was quite ashamed.
