First Aid Course

Venue: ITFNZ – Otahuhu Primary School, Main Hall, 41 Station Road, Otahuhu
Date: Saturday 27th February 2010
Start time: 9:00am
Finish time: 1:15pm
$40 per person (Max 40 participants )

Just what you need – a First Aid Course straight after a hard day in the classroom…
We can assure you that the TIME WILL FLY and YOU’LL HAVE A LOT OF FUN. Sure, you’ll probably miss Shorty Street, but it’s never been the same since Dr Ropata left anyway…

Try to get there on time – if you’re late you’ll most likely be used for any demonstrations.
We’ll provide a course handbook. If you want to take notes, bring a pen! Mind you, we are yet to see someone in a real first aid situation get a text book out of their first aid kit, so our focus is on practical application as this is where the most valuable learning occurs.
Comfy clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, and won’t reveal too much when you’re being used as a patient is vital! The time will fly – we promise!

We look forward to working with you and having a FUN course!

Please apply to Natasha Iotua: countiesmanukau@itfnz.org.nz

Help Wanted

I have you thought you would like to get more involved but didn't know what you could do? Well here's your chance.

At the recent meeting of all the Counties Manukau Instructors, it was decided to create some new roles that are desperately needed in our region. The first is an EQUIPMENT OFFICER.

The EQUIPMENT OFFICER would be responsible firstly to find out what equipment we have in our region and make an inventory. He or she would then be responsible for arranging the storage of the equipment and keep track of it. Sometimes we lend mats to other regions fora tournament for example, so the the EQUIPMENT OFFICER would be the person they contact to arrange this.

If you are interested please email our Regional Director: Mrs Natasha Iotua.

Secondly, we would like to sent up a FUNDRAISING TASKFORCE. We know we have members out there with the skills and enthusiasm to really make a difference in our region. The plan is to get a group of people together initially to throw around ideas of how we could be of help to the CM members. There are lots of opportunities for fundraising, and for sure many of our members could do with our help. It is just a matter of finding a few people with the DRIVE to get it done.

If you are interested in this, we are planning to hold a meeting on Monday 1st of March to get things started. The meeting will be held at Mrs Julie Thompson's work, Puffing Billy Daycare Centre, 14 Taka Street, Takanini at 7 pm. Julie is one of our key personnel in CM and has kindly agreed to oversee the meeting. Please email or Phone Julie to let her know you intend being there. Ph 298 1185 or 027-484-0885.

Thank you!

New RD for Counties Manukau

Congratulations to Mrs Natasha Iotua - the new Regional Director for the Counties Manukau Region.

Mrs Iotua will be a familiar face to everyone in ITFNZ - having been a major force behind the region for the past 7 years. She is approachable and always willing to lend assistance where ever possible. Mrs Iotua says she prefers to tackle things head on with a ‘never done it but will give it a try attitude’. She has had had hands on experience in every aspect of administration within ITFNZ, through her mentor Mrs Breen, I has been fortunate to have picked up tricks of the trade from other members of our organisation through observing and taking a hands on approach.

Mrs Iotua is passionate about the art but also about the people within the organisation and prefers to have a transparent process at all times. She is a positive person and believes that communication links should always be honest but diplomatically. Good luck Mrs Iotua!

New Baby

Hi all,

Our second little girl, Merryn Bree arrived at 10.25am on the 15th of December weighing in at 8lb 4 oz (3.79kg).  A reasonably easy delivery compared to Emily and both of us are home now which is lovely.  Emily really likes her 'baby' and loves having cuddles.

Hope you are all well and have a great christmas

Meredith, Kane and family
