Black Belt Techniques Handbook

Corrections and amendments included in  the 2nd printing (June 2002)

For 3rd Dan

  • Number of boards required for reverse turning kick power break amended to 3 boards and 2 boards (from 2 and 1). Page 22.

  • Scoring for destructions when testing for 3rd dan has been corrected from 12 points to 16 points (4 breaks, 4 points each. Total points for 3rd dan then are now:

    Unsuccessful (below 65%) < 141
    Pass (65-74%)  141
    A Pass (75-79%) 162.8
    Pass with distinction (80% and over) 173.6

For 1st Dan

  • Destruction power test Hand - downward punch. "and those under 18" has been added

    (Women and those under 18 have the option of using a knifehand instead of the forefist. Juniors must select an alternative to the hand break, eg twisting kick)

  • Destruction Special technique - Flying high kick

    (Men's height incresed to fingertip. Women & juniors still fist height)

General Corections

  • Correction to Page 20 under Offensive techniques, f.:
    (dung joomuk yobap makgi) corrected  to (dung joomuk yobap taerigi)

  • Sentence about juniors grading to 2nd dan on page 51 has been removed as it was ambiguous, and it is already mentioned at the top of page 6.
